Class Descriptions

Young Dancer Program:

Pre Dance 1, Pre Dance 2, Beginning 1, & Beginning 2

Students are introduced to rhythm patterns, develop gross motor skills, and engage in imaginative play in this fun, high-energy class. Ballet and tap basics will be taught while expressing creativity. Social skills are developed through learning to take turns and by following directions.

Technique Classes

Ballet

Ballet focuses on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras).   Careful explanations of exercises and theory help students to use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way. Our ballet classes include barre and center work, progressions and choreographed dances that enrich the movements of classical ballet  technique classes are the foundation for a dancer.

Jazz

One of the most popular styles of dance! Our jazz classes are high energy classes that focus on technique and musicality. These classes work through a detailed warm-up, across the floor techniques, and combos. 

Tap

All tap classes build on rhythm and musicality. We vary our tap instruction  to include the old New York/Broadway style of tap and presentation with the current trends of rhythm, hoofin' and acappella tap. technique is about making music and understanding it. Dancers will learn  music theory in all levels of training and gain an understanding of rhythms, tempo and counting as well as an understanding of note values in different time signatures.  As the dancer increases their vocabulary and mastery of the technique, dynamics such as accenting and shading are introduced.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a highly interpretive, expressive, and free-flowing form of dance, wherein the dancer expresses the theme or lyrics of a piece of music through his/her movements.

Musical Theater

Very fun and popular for the dancer who loves to be on stage.  We use Broadway themed songs along with plays and concepts as you see on Broadway or local theaters.  Inspiration comes from plays such as Westside Story, Newsies, Hair Spray, Grease, etc.  It is a fantastic way to feel like you are in the theater without having to sing or act.  Jazz technique, stylization, expression is also taught in this class which enhances their dance education and future theater opportunities.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a fast-paced, high-energy form of dance and the emphasis is less on formal technique and more on personal style. Classes start with a warm-up designed to get the blood pumping and the muscles working intensely, and then students will move on to learning and perfecting difficult choreography.

Leaps, Turns, Jumps.

Leaps and Turns is a technique class designed to improve the overall ability of the student in all forms of dance. Students will work to increase extension, flexibility, turns with more precision and various leaps. Students will focus on a variety of leaps, jumps, chaînès, pirouettes, fouettès, etc., appropriate for age and level. Leaps and Turns skill building assist students with more refined form and technical perspective

Acro

​​Our Acro classes focus on acrobatic skills that can add to our dancers repertoire. We focus only on floor work including cartwheels, handstands, back and front walkovers, aerials, back handsprings, and other fun skills. This class also benefits dancers' strength and flexibility to make them well rounded.
